Regional Carrier Seafreight Shipping Line deepened its commitment to golf in Jamaica with last week's sponsorship of the Jamaica Golf Association's (JGA) National Amateur Championships.

This is the shipping line's second year of sponsorship as part of an initial three-year arrangement, which is expected to be extended with additional involvement by Seafreight for the long-term development of the sport. The sponsorship valued at US$25,000 will assist with the future development of the JGA's junior and corporate development programmes.

Chief financial officer for Seafreight, William A. Brown, said, "Seafreight is very happy to be associated with the sport of golf and the JGA; and we are especially pleased because of the character development values associated with playing the game.

"We note with particular interest the number of children between the ages of nine and 18 involved in the JGA's development programme with 24 juniors participating in this year's championships," he added.
