Guyana increase income tax and old age pension

Government of Guyana has announced an increase in the income tax threshold and the public assistance and old age pension.



President Bharrat Jagdeo said the income tax threshold would increase from US$137 to US$171 effective January 1 this year.He said the move was designed to help citizens improve their standard of living.



The President also announced that old age pension would increase from US$12 to US$18.He said the new measures were put in place as his administration sought to deal with the rising cost of living.
