St Lucia\'s police commissioner, Ausbert Regis, wants a local law passed to make it mandatory for all police officers to undergo lie detector and drug tests.
Mr Regis said the test is already a requirement for working in some departments under his control, such as crime intelligence and immigration.
But he wants legal support for the rule.
Mr Regis said the issue of polygraph tests was discussed at last week\'s meeting of Caribbean police chiefs in Guyana.
