Munro edge Maggotty in five goal thriller

Munro College continued their daCosta Cup revival with a thrilling 3-2 win over Maggotty High at the Appleton Estates field yesterday to jump ahead of Lacovia in Group E, after the Lacovia side lost 2-0 to champions St Elizabeth Technical.
Munro needed a win to remain in contention of advancing along with STETHS and entered the game on 14 points, chasing Lacovia, which had 15 points and a game in hand.
They got what the needed thanks to strikes from Fabian Murray, who scored the opening goal in the 26th minute, a Maggotty own goal and a 90th minute winner from Ryan Jones.
Maggotty?s Kemar Bellanfante scored his team?s equaliser in the 45th minute as the teams went into the half time break level at 1-1.
Munro was given a scare in the 52nd minute, when Devinelle Cole fired Maggotty into a surprise lead, before the own goal pegged them back. Ryan Jones scored Munro?s all-important goal in the 90th minute of play, as they move two points clear of Lacovia.
STETHS never looked settled against Lacovia, but still managed a 2-0 win as Jovoney Brown and Donjay Smith scored in the 11th and 89th minutes, respectively, to steer them to a whopping 25 points.
Smith was scoring his ninth goal of the campaign, while it was Brown?s sixth goal to date.

Meanwhile, Group H leaders Clarendon College rolled to a 4-0 beating of Claude McKay to move further ahead onto 22 points. The other match in the group between Lennon and Thompson Town was not played as The Thompson Town team failed to show for the encounter.
Kemps Hill secured their place in the inter-zone round with a 3-0 win over Foga Road in Group N, as did Marcus Garvey over Steer Town in action from Group I, to join already-qualified Cedric Titus, who registered a similar 3-0 win over Ocho Rios.
Cornwall College?s impressive season kept momentum with a 2-0 win away to Green Pond in Group A to take their tally to 21 points.
Other results on Wednesday saw B.B. Coke and Newell ending 0-0; Spalding 3, Chistiana 3; Holmwood 1, Knox 0; Glenmuir 6, Porus 0; and Denbigh 1, Bustamante High 0.
