INDECOM appeals for information on St Thomas shooting

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is appealing to members of the public to come forward with information which can help in their probe of the shooting death of a St Thomas farmer.
INDECOM says it visited the Bath community yesterday where 63-year-old resident, Alvin Allen, was shot dead in an alleged shootout with the police on Monday.
It says during the visit, it sought to assure angry residents that the matter is being investigated and encouraged them to exercise patience.
INDECOM says the relevant police personnel were interviewed by investigators.
It further says the policemen's weapons were taken out of circulation and packaged for submission to the Government Forensic Laboratory for analysis.
INDECOM says the police reported that a team was on patrol in the area when they received reports of gunmen in a ganja field.
INDECOM says it was further reported that the police were escorted to a point and when they announced their presence, they were allegedly greeted with gunfire.
The fire was reportedly returned.
Following the shooting incident, the area was searched and one man was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he died.
