The boards of the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) and the Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA) have resigned at the request of the newly appointed Health Minister Horace Dalley.

Dalley told The Gleaner Monday evening that the Board of the Cornwall Regional Hospital will also be asked to resign.

The Cornwall Regional Hospital is managed by the WRHA.

The St James-based facility along with the UHWI located in St Andrew, have been at the centre of the latest health scandal, in which 42 premature babies were infected during four bacterial outbreaks.

The Health Ministry says 19 of the babies have died.

According to Dalley, new boards for the WRHA and the UHWI will be announced Tuesday.

He also said he will make a decision on the South East Regional Health Authority which is responsible for hospitals in Kingston, St Andrew, St Thomas and St Catherine.
