Boardwalk Village
WESTERN BUREAU:
Residents and hoteliers of Jamaica's capital of casual, welcomed the Boardwalk Village's new Jerk Centre in the typical charming and relaxed Negril style, on the sands of the Long Bay beach strip in the resort town recently.
The night was perfect for a jerk party - cool gentle breezes, clear starry skies, shimmers of tiny waves ebbing to and from the shore, and of course reggae music in the background.
Owner and Managing Director of the property, Richard Wallace was quite pleased with the turnout of friends and well-wishers who came to show their support. The guests were quite happy with sampling the tasty jerked chicken, pork and roast fish among other delights that were on offer buffet-style.
"We want it to be a good vibe for all Jamaicans from every cross section of the society. We want the hotel managers to feel comfortable here; we want the man on the streets to feel comfortable here as well. So we are going to start opening at nights; we are going to start going till late and hopefully people will come out and enjoy the ambiance and what we have here," Wallace told TODAY.
Among those spotted at the event were Negril Chamber of Commerce President and owner of Couples Swept Away, Lee Issa; TUI's Area Manager for the Caribbean, Simon Fraser; TUI Destination Service Manager; David Ward; Rotary Club of Negril's president Elaine Bradley; Kevin Levee of Hedonism II; JHTA Negril Chapter president, Winthrope Wellington; Sharon Chambers of Let's do it in the Caribbean, and members of the Wallace family.
