Businessman on fraud charge after failing to deliver $2m in auto parts

St Catherine businessman Vivian Williams has been arrested and charged with fraud after failing to deliver to a client almost $2 million worth of auto parts having collected the money to do so.
Williams, who is currently on bail in the amount of $200,000 will appear in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, December 17.
On Tuesday, he was arrested and charged by personnel from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC).
The 37-year-old, who is from Old Harbour Bay in the parish, is accused of failing to deliver goods on the contracted date.
It is alleged that in 2011, Williams received US$16,000 to buy auto parts for a client.
The parts were not delivered by the agreed date, and when no refund was forthcoming, a report was made to C-TOC's Fraud Squad.
