Coffee Industry Board warns about fraudulent emails
The Coffee Industry Board (CIB) is warning the public, especially industry players, about fraudulent emails.
In a notice today, the CIB says an unscrupulous person has used the email addresses of its employees and local and international licensed coffee stakeholders to send messages to individuals.
It is urging persons who have received emails from the agency, especially from its shipping department, to report it and to contact the state body to verify the authenticity of the emails.
The CIB is encouraging coffee stakeholders to inform their overseas partners about the fraudulent emails in order to eliminate or minimise the risk of fraudulent re-routing of funds and shipping documents.
It says the agency is investigating the matter to identify those behind the fake emails with the assistance of relevant authorities, and the appropriate legal action will be taken.
