A British woman has been arrested in connection with the seizure of 25 pounds of cocaine at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.

The police say about 3:30 p.m. yesterday, drugs valuing an estimated J$13 million was found hidden in a false compartment in the woman's luggage. She was detained for questioning.

Her identity is being withheld pending further investigation.

Meanwhile, investigators have theorised that some of the cocaine from the multi-million dollar shipment that was intercepted in Westmoreland yesterday was destined for the Jamaican market.

However, a senior investigator says there are indications that the bulk of the cocaine was to be shipped to other countries.

Thirty-six bales of cocaine were found on board a vessel at Belmont Beach during a joint operation between the Police Narcotics Division and the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Coast Guard valued at US$7.2 million or just above J$900 million.
