Eight members of the Rose Hall Seventh-day Adventist Church in St Catherine were honoured by the church on Saturday.

Among the honourees was Pearl Lawson, who has worked for a long time with the Ministry of Health, as well as in health services in St Catherine.

Appreciation

Organiser of the awards ceremony, Jacqueline Turner said the event was a way to show that the

members are appreciated.

"It is best to honour those among us while they are alive. The exercise was a way of doing that," Turner said.

Meanwhile, Phostine Brown said organising the exercise was a group effort. She and her husband Joseph were kept busy handing out certificates and trophies. Roy Gordon expressed thanks on behalf of the recipients. He said that the show of appreciation was "well received."

Those awarded were Willhel Allen, Diana Bihop, Gloria Cunningham, Florence Ferguson, Roy Gordon, Elaine James, Pearl Lawson and Roy Smith.
