Deputy Commissioner of Police Glenmore Hinds.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Glenmore Hinds says investigators are a step closer to identifying the persons responsible for the brutal slayings of two American Christian missionaries in St Mary last month.

The disclosure comes nearly a month after the bodies of 53-year-old Harold Nichols and 48-year-old Randy Hentzel were found in bushes almost 24 hours apart in the community of Albion Mountain.

Speaking to The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre this afternoon, Hinds said investigators are looking at a number of persons.

He says investigators are also pursuing new lines of enquiries in the probe.

The head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s crime portfolio declined to shed more light on the investigations, but said there has been progress.

He says he is confident that the police are a stop close to solving the case.
