God has been playing many roles in the lives of people from beginning of time. Some call Him healer and provider. others call him protector and friend, but for Marie Maylor, God is, above all, Jehovah Maphalti (The Lord that delivers).

Like many before her, Maylor had got to a point in her life when things were not going according to her desires.

Deciding to take matters into her own hands, she began going down a dark road.

"I needed a house, a car, and other things, including a visa, to make my life complete, so I decided I was going tek to the road cause 'Miss-Goody-Two-Shoes' naw go nuh weh. But the Bible declares that there are many plans in a man's heart, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand," she said, adding that she got pregnant, a move that "mashed up" her plans.

Distraught, alone, and one month pregnant, Maylor entered the saving halls of a church for the first time.

According to her: "The spirit of the Lord moved on me, and I gave my life to God that very day. I went through hell and back throughout my pregnancy. Many hungry days, bills needed to be paid, and so on. My back was really against the wall and I had no one to turn to, but in the midst of my struggle, I held on to Jesus."

And then came the ultimate hurdle.

"I went into the hospital to have a normal birth, but when the nurse checked me, I heard her calling for the head doctor. She said I had to get an emergency C-section."

Maylor, who by then realised there was a problem, told Family & Religion that she began calling on the Great Physician, Jesus, who, according to her, is above all doctors.

She experienced a rare condition called 'cord prolapse', which occurs when the umbilical cord comes out of the uterus with or before the baby.

The complication occurs in less than one per cent of pregnancies and is a life-threatening experience for the foetus, but Jehovah Maphalti stepped in.

"When I came out of theatre, the head doctor came to me and said I need to find myself in church to thank God. He also said it was the quickest C-section they have ever done (13 minutes).

"I told him I already gave my life to God. Thank God that when the devil said death, He said no! Satan had no right to my life or the life of my child. we belong to Jesus!" Maylor declared.

The now 41-year-old woman who mothers a beautiful five year-old daughter testifies of God's grace.

"The Bible declares, 'seek ye first the kingdom of God and all things will be added to you'. Thanks be to God there are no more hungry days, bills are paid, and I don't buy clothes or shoes for my daughter. God is a provider. I stand on His word, which also said, 'I have never seen the righteous forsaken or His seed begging bread'. Praise be to God I answered His call, and that's why today, my daughter and I are well. I just want to encourage someone to answer to the call of God because when everyone and everything around you fails, God never fails," she said.
