Noting that Sunday has become the most deadly day for motorists on Jamaican roads, transport minister Mike Henry is urging them to be even more careful this Christmas weekend.
He notes that as Jamaicans make last-minute preparations for Christmas, the roads become more congested and motorists become hurried in their driving activities.
Henry is warning motorists to be even more careful on Friday and Sunday.
He says 58 persons have been killed in motor vehicle crashes on a Sunday so far this year, followed by Friday with 49 and Tuesday with 47.
The least bloody day on the roads is Thursday with 33 fatalities.
Last year Sunday was also the deadliest day on Jamaican roads with 62 for the year.
