Ministry dispatches trauma team to Cornwall College after teen's murder

The Ministry of Education today dispatched a trauma team to Cornwall College in St James to offer counselling to students and staff affected by the murder of 16-year-old student Mark Williams.

Williams was gunned down last night along the Meadows of Irwin main road while he was being picked up by his stepfather who is a policeman.

The policeman is reportedly a witness in a court case which began last week.

It's reported that the policeman had shot and injured a man who killed another man in Ironshore in 2016.

The ministry says a trauma team was also sent to Green Pond High where Williams’ mother is a teacher.

Education Minister, Ruel Reid, says the brazen killing demonstrates the blatant disregard criminals have for life.

He’s urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to help the police in their investigation. 

Reports are that about 9:45 last night the policeman was in the process of picking up his stepson when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle.

Williams, who had just disembarked a taxi, was about to enter the vehicle when the gunshots were heard.

The policeman returned fire and the gunmen ran.

It was later discovered that his 16-year-old stepson was shot.

He was taken to hospital where he later died.
