McLeod, Thompson named to World Indoors team
Omar McLeod and Elaine Thompson highlight a 30-member (14 males and 16 females) team named by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) for the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, England.
McLeod will be defending his 60m Hurdles gold medal won two years ago in Portland, Oregon and will be joined by the likes of O’Dayne Richards, Javon Francis, Rusheen McDonald and Everton Clarke.
Thompson will carry strong medal hopes in the women’s 60m after her bronze medal run in 2016.
She will have the likes of Aisha Praught, Kimberly Williams, Danniel Thomas-Dodd and Janieve Russell for company on the female team.
The team will be led by technical director Maurice Wilson with Fitz Coleman, Danny Haughton, Michael Vassell and Paul Francis completing the coaching staff.
Former outstanding athletes Michael Frater and Deon Hemmings-McCathy have been named as managers of the team.
The World Indoor Championships will take place at Arena Birmingham from March 1-4.
