Brown targets double success on Champs Saturday

Brown, who finished sixth in the 400m final last year, turned in a good performance in winning his semi-final of the 400m in 47.73 seconds.

In fact, Brown's time is the fastest heading into today's final, where he will face Peterfields' Antonio Watson, who was second in last year's final.

Watson, who is the favourite to the win the event, cruised into today's final after winning his semi-final comfortably in a time of 47.84 seconds.

Challengers

Calabar's Evaldo Whitehorne, a third place finisher in last year's final, is also one of the main challengers in the final. However, Brown says that though both finals are going to be tough, he is fit and ready to take on his challengers.

"I know that it is not going be easy in both finals, but I am just trusting in God that I will come out on top in both finals," said Brown.

"I have trained very hard this season and so I have nothing to fear from anybody, and so I am just going out there to execute my race, and once I do this, then I know that I will be on the medal podium," said the powerfully built Brown. The 16-year-old is also expected to face a tough assignment in the 200m final, where he will go up against the defending champion, Sachin Dennis from STETHS, who has the fastest time of 20.99 seconds going into the final.

"I have prepared myself for the 200m really hard this season, and so I know I can win a medal in it," Brown said.

Javari Thomas from St Jago and Antonio Watson from Petersfield are the other main competitors in today's final.
