C-TOC seizes fake campari, $1M worth of DVDs
The Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC Branch) has charged four men for breaches of the Trademark and Copyright Acts.
The police say between Saturday, May 12 and Monday, May 14, a team of investigators carried out special operations in St. Ann’s Bay, St. Ann where the men were found selling fake Campari liquor to wholesalers in the parish.
According to the police, 19 cases of fake Campari were seized valuing approximately $380,000.00.
Forty-four-year-old Walton Wray of Lendene Drive, Kingston 20 and 32-year-old Duane Fuller of Elm Crescent, Kingston 10 were subsequently arrested and charged.
They are scheduled to appear before the St. Ann Parish Court on Thursday, July 05.
An additional two men were arrested and charged in downtown, Kingston for breaches of the Copyright Act on Monday, May 14.
They are 39-year-old Anash Davis, a vendor of Luke Lane in Kingston and 52-year-old Linford Path, a vendor of a Kingston 4 address.
It's reported that between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. investigators carried out a special operation in the area where four thousand counterfeit DVD’s were seized.
According to the police, the DVD’s have an estimated value of $1,000,000.00.
Davis and Path are scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Thursday, June 14.
