No need for Ja-T&T divide and rule

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The recent spate of discussions on the saga involving former Trinidadian sprinter Ato Boldon coaching a Jamaican athlete, Briana Williams, has been the talking point of his Trinidadian nationals.

We need to reassure these persons that I think they are a bit biased because Racers Track Club has Zharnel Hughes, who is from Anguilla. Darrel Brown of Trinidad and Tobago is coached by Stephen Francis of MVP fame. Delano Williams of Turks and Caicos Islands was developed from our expertise by coach Neil Harrison at Munro College.

I am glad that Trinidadian soccer player Dwight Yorke has endorsed the move by Ato Boldon to coach Briana Williams of Jamaica. Why are the Trinidadians so engrossed in this bitter battle of the Titans to claim supremacy in the region? We need to unite as a region.

Ato Boldon has declared that the region must present a united front for us to be sustainable. Although Ato Boldon's mother is Jamaican, they are still antagonising the star about what he should do from what he shouldn't do. When will they ever learn?
