JPS employee among four arrested for fuel theft at Hunts Bay power station
A Jamaica Public Service (JPS) employee is among four people who were arrested on Sunday night in connection with the alleged illegal removal of fuel from the company's Hunts Bay Power Station.
In a statement, the JPS said the arrest followed weeks of surveillance by its security department and the police.
"The persons who were arrested are scheduled to appear in court this week to answer to the charges," said a JPS spokesperson in a statement.
The JPS said the investigation into the alleged theft is continuing, in an effort to identify other persons who may have been involved.
It also said it has intensified its efforts to curtail illegal activity, and has indicated a zero tolerance approach to internal corruption.
