Jennifer Housen, attorney-at-law has reportedly resigned as People's National Party caretaker for St Andrew West Rural.

Gleaner sources have reported that Housen tendered her resignation on Wednesday.

Housen, who was seeking to hand current Member of Parliament Juliet Cuthbert Flynn a one-term stint, was among seven women installed by the PNP back in February as the party sought to present a new look to electorates for the next general election, constitutionally due in 2021.

But as The Gleaner sources disclosed the development, Housen, responding to queries, was not forthright with her status as caretaker.

"I will neither admit it ... nor do I deny it," Housen tersely said deferring to PNP General Secretary Julian Robinson.

Efforts made by The Gleaner to contact the PNP general secretary have been unsuccessful.

However, up to last month, Housen was actively campaigning in Brandon Hill, a PNP stronghold in the constituency.
