Gunmen invaded a home in Salt Spring, St James early this morning killing one man and injuring another.

The dead man has been identified only as ‘Cartel’.

The other man, a 53-year-old farmer, has been admitted to hospital in serious, but stable condition.

The killing comes two days after the year-long state of emergency ended.

According to the police, two men were at a house in a section of the community known as Cottage when the gunmen gained entry and opened fire.

One hundred and two persons were reported killed in St James last year, a 70 per cent decline when compared with the 341 murders recorded in 2017.
