Pressure Buss Pipe takes ‘upful’ mission to Dubwise JA

Pressure Buss Pipe is on a upful mission. Today, he will stand at the centre of a gathering of contemporaries, fans and well-wishers, to celebrate the official Jamaican launch of his latest album, Rebel With A Cause, at Dubwise Jamaica. “I hope the Jamaican audience will act just the same as they have always – with a lot of love and appreciation for the music, opening their arms and ears and hearts to Pressure Buss Pipe, coming from the Virgin Islands,” he told The Gleaner.
Released in November 2019, Rebel With A Cause features a range of local celebrity talents, including Sizzla Kalonji, Anthony B, Protoje, Kabaka Pyramid, Jah9, Reemah, the late Vaughn Benjamin (Akae Beka), along with Americans R. City and rapper Redman.
The guests expected to appear this weekend at Kaya Herbhouse (Lady Musgrave Road) are as plenty and varied as Pressure’s featured artiste list. “It’s a great feeling to have all these friends of mine, bredjins and sistrens I’ve worked with over the years. Lutan Fyah, Jah9, Chronixx and Kabaka Pyramid, Protoje ... . It’s just a great feeling to bring together this union on the Rebel With A Cause launch, and bring forth goodness and tranquillity to the people, and restore some kinda vibes within the music itself. It’s always a good feeling. It’s an upful mission,” he said.
The mission of the launch aligns with the message in the music. As Pressure finds excitement in the unity of friends, orchestrating a musical good time, he hopes the album encourages that same excitement in his audience.
He said: “The reason for the cause is the lack of justice and equality – and people just suffering around the world. People need awareness and upliftment. That’s the rebel, with a cause. I’m not just fighting without knowing where we going and where we coming from. The message in the music is very important. For me, it starts with the message.”
Hoping that the message sticks, Pressure is looking forward to landing some more stage time in Jamaica.
“It has been a tremendous journey for me over the years dealing with Jamaican producers and disc jockeys. I expect the same, or even much more love in the future. Over the years, I haven’t been on stage in Jamaica much – but it’s always a blessing to be on stage. So I’m hoping to be on stage soon – after the works of the Dubwise album launch,” Pressure said.
