Sagicor fetes breast cancer survivors
The breast cancer survivors who are the faces of Sagicor Group Jamaica’s Together We Can breast cancer awareness campaign were in for a treat on Wednesday as the conglomerate hosted the women and their families for a special celebratory luncheon at the Jamaica Food and Drink Kitchen in St Andrew. Sagicor team members who have survived breast cancer were also guests of honour at the event which was catered by celebrity Chef Jacqui Tyson. In welcoming this guests, Karl Williams, Sagicor Group Jamaica’s executive vice-president – shared services, expressed the view that the women’s bravery and candidness in telling their stories is heroic.
“It has been heartwarming and remarkable to read and watch each woman’s journey with breast cancer throughout October, and the incredible strength and courage that you all possess. This luncheon is Sagicor’s way of reminding you that you are never alone,” he said. “We are here with all of you today, and will continue to be, because we are family and it is together that we all survive.”
A cheque valued at a quarter million dollars was also presented to the Jamaica Cancer Society towards their Reach for Recovery programme, which will aid in supporting breast cancer warriors and survivors, and providing screening resources for breast cancer.
