DEFENDING URBAN ISSA senior schoolgirl netball champions, St Catherine High School, got off to a winning start at home yesterday getting by Vauxhall 45-17 in their Zone B encounter.

Led by goal shooter Kellian Hunter with 25 goals, and Kayla Wright, with 18, the Phyllis Thompson-coached team led from start to finish.

After the first quarter they led 8-3 before going into the half-time break leading 22-5. They turned up the heat in the final two quarters, leading 33-11 after the third stanza before closing out the fourth for an easy win.

Despite the easy win, Thompson still had concerns.

“The win was okay but there is still more work needed to be done, especially amongst our shooters. They need to be more consistent,” said Thompson.
