The National Works Agency (NWA) says it has reopened about 95 per cent of road sections affected by Hurricane Beryl to at least single lane access, despite receiving reports of 50 additional impacted roadways in the last 24 hours.

It says the additional reports brought the number of roads impacted to 529.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says 47 per cent of the impacted roads are fully reopened and 48 per cent of roadways have restricted access.

He says only 24 road sections remain impassable. Most roadways that remain blocked are in St Thomas, St Andrew and Hanover.

The Agency says it is hoping to have at least three of the roadways, that are still impassable, reopened in the next 24 hours. It says these roads are being impacted by fallen utility poles.
