Man fatally shot by police after alleged gun attack in St Catherine

A 31-year-old man was fatally shot by police after he and others allegedly fired at officers during an operation in St Catherine on Saturday.

He has been identified as Jebornie Dunkley, of Nelson Street, Old Harbour,

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in Bellas Gate, where the police were conducting an operation.

They came under fire upon arriving at a shop and bar.

The cops returned fire, causing the attackers to flee.

Dunkley was later found with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the Spanish Town Hospital.

The Independent Commission of Investigations has been notified.
