Vybz Kartel and the team at Downsound Entertainment are pulling out all the stops to ensure a top-class, top-tier production when Freedom Street, the concert, rolls into the National Stadium in Kingston on New Year’s Eve.

With the entire event wrapped around Vybz Kartel, fans are being promised “mind-blowing special effects and guest appearances”.

“There will definitely be surprise guest performances. I mean, that goes without saying. And memba, a Downsound Entertainment a handle di production, so yuh know di ting a go mad,” Vybz Kartel said confidently.

Gaza fans worldwide are getting ready to light up the New Year with Vybz Kartel, and as the countdown begins, the Worl’ Boss is set to ignite the stage with his legendary energy and electrifying catalogue, ensuring an unforgettable New Year’s Eve bash, a press release from the organisers stated.

This will be Kartel’s first performance after more than a decade, and he sought words to fully describe his feelings.

“First of all, words can’t explain how mi feel. Mi can say me happy, mi elated, it’s amazing, but words really can’t express how mi feel cause memba, enuh, a 13 years. And one ting me love more than life itself a music, so mi nuh even know how to process da feeling deh,” Kartel confessed, his voice filled with emotion.

While many fans are eager for a hint of what is in store for the night, Kartel isn’t giving away any surprises just yet.

“We nah gi nobody nuh sneak peek. We can sneak peek inna some girl house ... a joke! Sidem, kiss me baby!” Kartel joked, showing off his playful side before quickly adding, “but mi nah go spoil nutten. Di fans dem just need fi prepare fi di unexpected.”

UNWAVERING SUPPORT

Kartel was quick to credit his fans for their unwavering support throughout his time behind bars, explaining that they were the driving force behind the concept of Freedom Street.

“The fans have played the ultimate goal in shaping the concept of Freedom Street. A dem a chant freedom fi Kartel. From me deh a prison, a dem a chant ‘Free Worl’ Boss’. A dem literally name di show. So the show is based around the fans just as much as it is based around Kartel. Dem a my mirror, and me a fi dem mirror. A only true da mirror ya (his face) kinda likkle bleach out,” he joked, flashing his famous wit.

He is promising fans an experience to remember, reiterating: “As always, expect the unexpected from Kartel. I’m bringing three hours of pure fire. Gaza Nation, Gaza citizens, come out and let’s make history!”

As for new music and collaborations, Kartel is laser-focused on making Freedom Street an unparalleled experience.

“Right now, it’s all about Freedom Street. Everything else can wait. Why back burner? Because I’m the main burner!” he quipped.
