AI task force submits report
Information Minister Dr Dana Morris Dixon says she has received the report from the artificial intelligence (AI) task force established in July of last year to conduct research into the technology.
It was tasked with exploring effective strategies for mitigating the risks posed by AI and deepfakes while safely seizing the opportunities of the technology.
Speaking at Wednesday's post-Cabinet media briefing, Morris Dixon said the report will first be submitted to Cabinet, before being ventilated publicly.
“That taskforce has looked at our education system and what needs to change there, it also looked at in terms of our businesses, how we can harness AI better, and also in terms of government policy,” she said.
In her contribution to the State of the Nation Debate in the Senate last year, Morris Dixon, said the task force would be directed to provide an evidence-based foundation for the development of a national AI policy.
