JLP to select Trelawny Southern candidate soon, says Chang
General Secretary of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Dr Horace Chang says a candidate for Trelawny Southern, which has been without a representative for just over a year, will be selected soon.
“This will be done before our general conference which is due in November," Chang told The Gleaner on Sunday.
"We are putting things together and a candidate will be named shortly," he stated when pressed.
The constituency has been without a Member of Parliament since September 2023 following the resignation of the JLP's Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert.
Former MP Devon McDaniel had applied to represent the party but has not received a response.
Despite this, he said he still supports the party.
"My ship as left the harbour. However, I am a party man and will support whichever candidate is chosen."
