Unstable weather associated with a tropical wave currently across Hispaniola is expected to affect Jamaica on Tuesday, noted the Meteorological Service of Jamaica.

The tropical wave is expected to merge with a developing area of low pressure southwest of Jamaica by Tuesday night. This area of disturbed weather is expected to impact Jamaica for the remainder of the week.

“Consequently, the forecast is for cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, to affect sections of most parishes, especially southern parishes, beginning Tuesday afternoon through to Friday morning. Strong gusty winds are also expected, especially across southern parishes and southern marine areas during this time,” noted the Met Service.

“Fishers and other marine interests, especially those inshore and offshore the south coast, should exercise extreme caution as sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers, thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds.”

The Meteorological Service said it will continue to monitor this system.
