THE HIGH Commission of India (Kingston) and AllKare Wellness Foundation will host their annual New Kingston Health Fair on Sunday, October 20, at the Victoria Mutual Group Parking Lot, St Lucia Avenue in New Kingston.

According to Leroy Dallas, conceptualiser of the New Kingston Health Fair, they always believe in giving back to their community, and as a result they decided to assist in the healthcare field that they are already involved in.

“We want our community to know that we appreciate them in our lives. Healthcare for us is the foundation of productivity. In 2023, we recognised the need for healthcare assistance, but we did not know of the magnitude of the need. After witnessing people from seven other parishes attending the health fair last year, we decided to continue organising the fair, and also expand our offerings,” Dallas said.

The New Kingston Health Fair will feature doctors’ consultation with over 25 doctors, optical and dental screenings, free prescription drugs, HIV and syphilis testing, blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and blood sugar checks. People will also have the opportunity to sign up for their National Health Fund card; and also apply for services offered by the Registrar General’s Department, including birth, death and marriage certificates.

“We recognised the need and decided to expand our offerings by doubling the number of services including medical, dental and optical, along with all the other services that we will be having. All these services will be free of cost, so we are inviting persons to come to the event and partake of the services,” Dallas said.

The New Kingston Health Fair is open to everyone. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the day’s activities scheduled to end at 3 p.m.

Sponsors include Cal’s Manufacturing, Yummy Bakery, Andrews Memorial Hospital, AnyBet, Northern Caribbean University, Sagcior Group, VM Group, University College of the Caribbean, Registrar General’s Department, National Health Fund and Canopy Insurance.
