‘Just waiting on the right time’
Dixon believes Charlton, Reggae Boyz improvement coming

ALTHOUGH KAHEIM Dixon has not featured much under new Reggae Boyz coach Steve McClaren or for his club Charlton Athletic, the player said he is patiently waiting on his opportunity and aims to seize it when his chances come.
Dixon played 30 minutes in the Reggae Boyz 0-0 draw with Honduras in their top-of-the-table Concacaf Nations League, League A, Group B match at the National Stadium on Monday.
The 20-year-old, along with Renaldo Cephas, were the only sparks in an otherwise dull affair, and although disappointed he did not get on the scoresheet, he looks forward to his next opportunity.
“Once my time comes, I will grab it with my two hands. Whether or not I am in the squad. I am always happy for my teammates as the lads go out to put in their best.
“I feel good representing my country once again, getting my 11th cap. But it was a tough opponent, so we have to go back to the drawing board for next month and fix it.
“I am very disappointed (not scoring). But the greatest thing, we got a point at home, and that is good for the team,” he said.
“We tried to fix things in the changing room, and in the second half we did that and came out and gave Jamaica a show.”
The former Clarendon College and Arnett Gardens player, who moved to Charlton in the summer, has only played a few games with the under-21s since he moved to England.
However, he maintains that he is patiently biding his time but will be ready anytime the manager calls on him.
“Things are good at Charlton. I am working hard until it’s my time. Doing more ball work and off-the-ball movement and on and off the field mentality, like, to stay strong.
“I think (it will be) soon. Once the gaffer is ready, I’ll be out there, and I know I will put in my best. I am always anxious, and as long as I get my chance, I will take it,” he continued.
“Physically, mentally I am good. I am mentally stable. Nothing worries me. I know once it is my time, I will grab it. I have Christ with me, so there is nothing to worry about.
“So just waiting on the right time. I am an international player, and I will perform once I get the opportunity as that’s what I do in the U21s. So all I have to do is wait on my turn in the first team and prove it to them that I belong there.”
