Approximately 200 workers employed by Royalton took industrial action on Monday to raise concerns about their working environment.

Discussions are ongoing between disgruntled workers at the Royalton Negril hotel in Westmoreland and the property's management over employment issues.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security says it has been advised by the corporate management of the Royalton Group that normalcy returned to the facility today following local-level talks with the staff to iron out the contentious issues.

Approximately 200 workers employed by Royalton took industrial action yesterday to raise concerns about their working environment.

The concerns include provisions for canteen facilities, compensation and management and employee relations.

The labour ministry says it is aware that a high-level team from the Royalton Group has arrived in Jamaica to address the matter

“It is our duty to ensure that all workers enjoy the highest level of worker-management relations and there is an internal mechanism for amicable resolving disputes.”

The Ministry says it continues to monitor the situation and implement long-term solutions to address workers' concerns.
