The St Andrew North police have moved to implement changes along a section of Red Hills Road to address traffic congestion arising from people visiting PriceSmart.

Motorists will not be allowed to access Valentine Drive from Red Hills Road.

Instead, motorists will only be permitted access from Red Hills Road onto Valentine Castle Drive and then onward to Valentine Castle Avenue.

The Gleaner understands that earlier today, there was heavy traffic congestion due to shoppers trying to gain access to PriceSmart.

The traffic changes are for the holiday season.

“That will be our approach to manage the heavy flow of traffic in that area,” the head of the division, Deputy Superintendent Randy Sweeney, told The Gleaner.

“They will only be allowed to exit onto Red Hills Road from Valentine Drive. We can reassure the public that there are officers and signs in place to assist as well,” he added.

Over the years, the community of Valentine Gardens has been affected by traffic congestion.
