Primal animal prints, crisp citron blends contrasted with cool earth tones, killer pumps and statement accessories are the order of the day as Pulse supermodels Jaunel McKenzie and Gaye McDonald lead the couture charge for 'Summer 2010' in the latest edition of Grazia magazine.

Radiating in a colourful high fashion eight-page spread, McKenzie and McDonald, alongside models Shelby Coleman, Austria Alcantara and Quiana Grant, charmed the lens of photographer David Roemer (H&M, BCBG, Elie Tahari, Dennis Basso) for the UK international edition of the Italian magazine.

Gucci, Topshop London, Vivienne Westwood, Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenberg as well as Paul Smith outfit the quintet for fashion in the fast lane and navigate tribal trends and brilliant colours with sequin separates and cool linens.

Appearing individually as well as paired together in the exclusive fashion spread, the Pulse stars, who incidentally are also both signed to IMG Models in New York, inject high energy and poise into the spread and see the meeting of two superlative Pulse stars come to a head.

Poise and professionalism

McKenzie, who is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in international fashion, seized the model market almost immediately after winning Pulse's Caribbean Model Search (CMS) in 2002. Her exquisite features coupled with her poise and professionalism have resulted in her selection by the world's most respected couturiers and high-fashion brands for their runway collections, campaigns, editorials, catalogues and commercials. The body of work she has done during her career is well documented and represents a veritable A-Z of industry power players. From Armani to Alexander McQueen, Gap to Gucci, Hilfiger to H&M, Nordstrom to the New York Times, Michael Kors to Macy's, Valentino to Vibe, Vogue and Victoria's Secret, McKenzie has blazed a trail that rivals any of her contemporaries on the global fashion scene.

Her able counterpart, McDonald, represents the nouveau wave of Pulse luminaries including stunners Jeneil Williams and Sedene Blake who are taking fashion to considerable heights. McDonald, a 2005 CMS winner, has maintained a dominant presence since her introduction to the international fashion a few years ago. Less than 18 hours after being introduced to the model market, she was snapped up by Cosmopolitan, one of the world's premier fashion magazines for an exclusive shoot and has been on a steady climb to stardom ever since. French Vogue, Italian Vogue, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Cartier, Nordstrom, MAC, Stella McCartney and Luire Japan are among her rapidly expanding list of clients.

Both McDonald and McKenzie, in addition to a host of other top international stars, will be making featured appearances at Caribbean Fashionweek, scheduled for June 10-13 at the National Indoor Sports Centre.
