Rape charges dropped against PM Gonsalves

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Colin Williams has dropped the rape charges against Prime Minister, Ralph Gonsalves.



According to Mr. Williams, the allegations are not likely to stand up in a court of law, and he has written to the lawyers instructing them of the decision by his office to drop the charges.



Mr. Williams told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) that his decision is in the best interest of justice.



He said this decision was reached, following a thorough examination of all the statements and evidence available in the matter.
