Zimbabwe\'s central bank said it would be introducing a new currency on Friday as part of efforts to fight the effects of hyperinflation.

The bank\'s governor, Gideon Gono, has announced that zeros will be cut from the Zimbabwe dollar, making $10 billion, one dollar.

Just last week, the government introduced the $100 billion note.

The latest currency announcement is said to be another desperate attempt by Mr. Gono to stabilise Zimbabwe\'s collapsing economy.

The new $100 billion note, which was introduced last week is reportedly not enough to buy a loaf of bread.
