The United Nations is expressing concern about the plight of tens of thousands of people fleeing a rebel advance on Goma in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

Police are now reportedly trying to arrest retreating soldiers blamed for causing chaotic scenes in the Congolese city, which has been tense since earlier today.

The UN Security Council is urging the rebel leader to implement his ceasefire.

Meanwhile, The UN children\'s agency Unicef says the latest bout of fighting has resulted in a very bad humanitarian situation.
