Teen suspect in custody for 11-month-old's killing

A teenager is now in custody for the murder of 11-month-old Omar Lindo.

The police say the teenager was held in Courage district, Gordon Town, in St Andrew, before dawn yesterday.

His name has not been released, but the police's Corporate Communications Unit says arrangements are being made for him to be interviewed in the presence of his attorney.

The 11-month-old was shot and killed by gunmen who were chasing a man on Chancery Lane.

According to the grandmother of the child, Omar was killed while his mother was bathing him in their yard.

It is understood that the shooting resulted from a gang feud. Reports are that a man from one gang was chased by members of another during a shootout.

The man ran into the yard and the gunmen followed.

An older child was also shot and injured during the exchange of gun fire.
