Police, Gov't to hold wage talks tomorrow

A meeting has been set for tomorrow for the Government to formally begin wage talks with the Jamaica Police Federation.
The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m at the Finance Ministry.
Police Federation Chairman, Sergeant Raymond Wilson says he expects the Government to make a formal wage offer.

Last week, the Federation demanded a date for the official talks to begin following a declaration by the Minister with Responsibility for the Public Service, Horace Dalley.
Dalley had told the media that the Government’s offer of a five per cent wage increase would remain despite protests by some unions.
However, this incensed the rank and file cops with the union accusing Dalley of being deceptive, unethical and premature in his statements on the level of wage increase the Government can afford.
The police federation said the government is yet to present it with an offer as it had promised to do following a March 11 meeting.
Wilson said in light of the absence of a meeting, the statement from Dalley was worrying.
