Hull City face the prospect of relegation, even if they beat Manchester United. The Tigers go into their final game in the bottom three and will definitely join Queens Park Rangers and Burnley in next season's Championship if they lose or draw.

Sunderland secured their safety on Wednesday and even if Hull win they will go down if Newcastle win at home to West Ham.

United are guaranteed a return to the Champions League after a season's absence and have an outside chance of pipping Arsenal to third place though they would need to win, hope Arsenal lose and overturn a goal deficit of seven.

United have won only one of their last five games and have scored only 21 away goals; their previous lowest goals haul on the road is 25, in the 2008-09 campaign.

Hull have lost their last three Premier League games and have won only twice in 13 to move within sight of a return to the Championship. And against United their record is woeful; in seven Premier League clashes home and away they have lost all seven, conceding 21 goals and scoring just seven.

United have scored at least three goals against Hull in six of those seven games and last lost to the Tigers in November 1974, in the old Second Division. In 23 league games, Hull have won only four.

United are without Michael Carrick and Rafael while Luke Shaw, David De Gea and Wayne Rooney undergo tests. Hull are without Jake Livermore, banned after allegedly failing a drugs test.
