Al Miller has case to answer

A Corporate Area Magistrate has ruled that popular pastor, Reverend Merrick 'Al' Miller has a case to answer in the corruption case brought against him.

Resident Magistrate Simone Wolfe-Reese made the ruling yesterday when she threw out the no-case submission made by his attorneys.

Miller has been on trial for attempting to pervert the course of justice after then wanted man Christopher 'Dudus' Coke was found in a car he was driving.

Coke was wanted on an extradition warrant at the time he was captured along Mandela Highway in St Catherine, in a sport utility vehicle that was being driven by Miller.

This came after Coke managed to elude a massive police-military operations in his Tivoli Gardens stronghold, in which more than 70 civilians and one member of the Jamaica Defence Force were killed.

The pastor of Fellowship Tabernacle Church in St Andrew has maintained that he was taking the convicted drug kingpin to the United States Embassy in St Andrew to surrender to authorities there.

Miller is to return to court on September 22 to begin mounting his defence.
