Clarendon residents owe J$1.5b for water bill

Clarendon residents owe the National Water Commission (NWC) more than J$1.5 billion.

The NWC made the disclosure during Friday's groundbreaking ceremony for the J$200 million Mason River Water Supply Project in north Clarendon.

Residents in south-east Clarendon owe the biggest chunk, the NWC says, with outstanding amounts of J$713 million, followed by residents in central Clarendon who owe close to J$313 million.

South-west Clarendon residents owe J$226.9 million, while those in north-west Clarendon owe J$124 million.

The Mason River Water Supply Project is expected to provide improved water supply to the communities of Mason River, Kellits, Sandy River, Rhoden Hall and Douglas Castle, among other communities in Clarendon.
