LIME ‘Skool Aid' all set for tomorrow
With only a day to go before the sixth staging of LIME Skool Aid, the telecoms firm says it's all systems go. Through this annual back-to-school programme, the company has been assisting thousands of young Jamaicans by offsetting various back-to-school expenses.
Carlo Redwood, leading marketing and products at LIME and Flow, has indicated that the company is preparing to welcome a further 35,000 patrons at this year's event.
Since its inception, LIME has invested approximately $300 million in the programme and has assisted over 290,000 Jamaicans.
"We are again expecting a large turnout as we have over the years. Times are hard, and we continue to extend our well-needed support to ease the burden on parents and guardians to prepare their children for the reopening of school," Redwood said. All indications are that the company will continue this trend with its newly merged partner Columbus Communications, operators of Flow.
"Across the region, our business has invested significantly in education - our support in Jamaica being the largest - and that we are 'better together', we will continue to offer our support and reach even more people," Redwood added.
Numerous partners have also collaborated in the effort, including Huawei, Lasco iCool, the Jamaica Library Services, National Library of Jamaica, Sangster's Book Stores, and the Heart Trust NTA.
The event will take place at the Jam World show ground in Portmore, St Catherine, and will feature a number of areas, which will all be offering items of support. Students are able to benefit from the wellness area, which will be offering free health checks and dental care; the barbering salon, which will be offering free haircuts for boys just in time for the reopening of school; a shopping village offering various school supplies at discounted prices; tuition scholarships and school bags; plus, phone, Internet and cable specials.
While the services will be offered at no cost, patrons attending the event will be required to secure tickets through the purchase of a $300 LIME top-up card at LIME stores in Kingston, Portmore, and Spanish Town.
Additional support is also being provided by IRIE FM, ZIP FM, The Gleaner Company, and Big Buy Variety Stores.
