Cornwall, Rusea’s draw 0-0
Western Bureau:
Cornwall College and staunch rivals Rusea's High served up a match for the ages at Jarrett Park last Saturday. The only thing lacking was a goal or two for either team in the 0-0 draw.
Both had shots on goal crashing on to the crossbar; both had their attacks blunted by strong and vigorous defending; and, to top it all off, they both drew the biggest crowd at a game of football at the park for many years.
That result means that Cornwall are locked in a race for top spot and a place in the lucrative Flow Super Cup with Petersfield High, who earlier, at the same venue, defeated Herbert Morrison 3-0. Petersfield lead on goal difference.
Rusea's will have a lot of work to do to be among the qualifiers. The 'Russians' are on two points in zone standings after two matches and must win on Tuesday to avoid elimination.
The eight zone winners to contest the FLOW Super Cup and the Ben Francis KO will most likely be St James (Zone 1), Cornwall or Petersfield High (Zone 2), St Elizabeth Technical (Zone 3), Clarendon College (Zone 4), Lacovia (Zone 5), Port Antonio (Zone 6), Vere Tech (Zone 7), and Glenmuir High (Zone 8).
