Satisfied that its input is helping to keep the high standards of the Arnett Gardens-based Iris Gelly Primary School, Rainforest Seafoods has budgeted even more support this year for the institution dubbed 'Ghetto Prep'.

"The outstanding performance of the school came to my attention through the media, and since we are based metres away on Slipe Road, I decided to check it out," said Roger Lyn, marketing manager at Rainforest.

"When we saw what they had achieved with so little resources, we were overwhelmed and quick to join with the school, which is in a community we feel a part of," added Lyn.

Since then, Rainforest has helped the school by supplying it with water in times of drought and has helped to improve its computer lab. But Lyn says the work is not yet done.

"We are prepared to do anything we can do to ensure that they continue do as well as they do. There is more to do with the computer lab and our IT (information technology) people are going to see how many students are benefiting and how many more can be helped," said Lyn.

"I have also spoken with the principal and told her to send us her schedule so that we can see what more can be done," added Lyn.
