JLP councillor pulls out of race

JAMAICA LABOUR Party (JLP) councillor for the Bog Walk division of the St Catherine Parish Council, Peter Abrahams, who was selected to represent the party in the February 25 general election, has made a late decision to withdraw as the party's standard-bearer in North Central St Catherine.

Efforts to reach Abrahams have been unsuccessful, however, a source close to the councillor told The Gleaner that Abrahams made the decision because of personal business obligations.

When contacted, General Secretary of the JLP Horace Chang confirmed that Abrahams would no longer contest the upcoming election and that the party is now looking for a suitable replacement.

North Central St Catherine is currently represented by incumbent Natalie Neita Headley of the People's National Party, who is expected to retain the seat.
