Chronixx to make Japan debut for Mighty Crown
Mighty Crown's 25th anniversary celebration continues with Chronixx joining the sound system for two concerts in Japan later this month. Slated for Osaka and Kawasaki, Chronixx and the Zinc Fence Redemption band will appear alongside Mighty Crown and Japanese dancehall group Fire Ball. It marks the Capture Land singer's Japan debut.
"We feel that it is important to continue to bridge the gap between Japan and Jamaica through music," said Masta Simon of Mighty Crown. "One of the main reasons we are bringing Chronixx is because we want the people in Japan to feel the real energy of a new artiste from Jamaica through a major live performance. With these being Chronixx's first ever performances in Japan, no doubt, these shows will be exclusive and very, very special to us and all of Japan,"
Mighty Crown has dubbed the high profile Chronixx concerts as chapter one of their festivities in Japan, while their August concert will serve as chapter two featuring another prominent artiste from Jamaica. In addition, the sound has a number of forthcoming performances slated, including Sound Fest Vibez in the Park in July and the Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise 2016. They are currently in the middle of a United Kingdom tour, where they have performed at the O2 Arena in London and Birmingham.
Tosh family launches
cannabis line
Peter Tosh's family has announced it is launching Peter Tosh 420, a company providing quality cannabis products for medicinal power, spiritual enlightenment and recreational enjoyment.
Peter Tosh 420 is a new venture being formed by the family of Peter Tosh, music and entertainment industry veteran Brian Latture', and cannabis industry leader Steven Trenk of Lizada Capital, LLC. Peter Tosh 420 is poised to capitalise on the current legalisation movement.
"We are very excited to be partnering with Steven Trenk, who brings a wealth of experience and immediate industry credibility to our cause," said Latture, who manages the Peter Tosh brand and is chief executive manager of the new venture, PT Capital, LLC.
Trenk, who was an early pioneer investor in the legal cannabis movement, agreed, adding, "There are few names more synonymous with the cannabis industry than that of Peter Tosh. I am just thrilled to be partnering with Peter's family to take a marquee brand like Peter Tosh, who was literally the godfather of the legalisation movement, and spreading his message through Peter Tosh 420. The opportunity to work with the family of this great musician, who dedicated his life to human rights, represents a great honour for Lizada and myself."
"This venture is not just about business. It is about spreading my father's message of equal rights and justice, while bringing what he believed was a sacred herb to the world and doing good deeds in the process," said Niambe McIntosh, administrator of her father Peter Tosh's estate and president of PT Capital, LLC.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Peter Tosh's first solo album and his cannabis anthem Legalize It.
