Jamaica Junior Theatre To Host Charity Concert Tomorrow
Tomorrow, the junior arm of the Jamaica Musical Theatre Company, the Jamaica Junior Theatre, will host their annual talent concert, the JJT In Concert XXVI - Pure Imagination.
Scheduled for the Alhambra Inn, the concert is expected to start at 5:30 p.m.
Over the years proceeds from JJT shows and concerts has benefited many charities including the SOS Children's Village, the Bustamante Hospital for Children, the STEP Centre and PALS Jamaica among others. As far as donations go, it is expected that this year's concert will be no different, as part proceeds from the show will be donated to a charitable cause.
In a release sent to The Gleaner, the organisers of the annual event urged Jamaicans to come out and support the concert, as the talent on display is expected to be extraordinary. In the statement the JTT also revealed that the organisation not only prides itself on showcasing the talent of young people in Jamaica, but they also aim to teach the youth the importance of volunteerism.
Unique
"What makes JJT so unique is that we provide a nurturing and supportive environment for young people to not only learn and develop their theatrical talents, but also a humanitarian spirit," it read. "All cast members are a part of a greater mission - one of giving. They (the participants) are taught the value of helping other children in need."
Tomorrow's show is organised and produced by Doug Bennett and acting musical director, Lisa Marie Spence. Aside from the JJT, other performers for the evening should include Kristina Carty, Sydnie Greaves, Stephanie Hazle, Anna-Kaye Jones, Danah Lawson-Chisolm, Madeline Sharp, Lisa Spence and Andrew Bailey. Admission is $800.
